Carlo Trozzi, Technical Director of Techne Consulting, partner of  I-CHANGE, presented some of the project’s results at the 13th International Conference on Sustainable Development and Planning held in Seville from 23 to 25 September 2024.

The conference series aims to bring together planners, economists, policy makers, engineers, architects and environmentalists who need to cooperate to ensure that planning and development can meet the current needs of societies without compromising the prospects and well-being of future generations.

The presentation first provided an overview of environmental footprints used to assess the impacts of human activities on the environment. Then, the I-CHANGE project was introduced, which addresses the challenge of engaging and promoting active citizen participation to address climate change, sustainable development and environmental protection. Finally, environmental footprint methodologies were applied based on the information collected by the Living Labs on daily activities, traffic simulation results and statistical data to calculate specific footprints in the base case and in the alternative scenarios for different Living Labs in I-CHANGE.

At the conference was registered 81 people from all continents with different professional backgrounds who share an interest in sustainable planning. The presentation raised a lot of interest among the participants especially for the aspects related to citizen engagement.
