Researchers from the University of Bologna‘s Atmospheric Physics group brought their first research on the use of urban Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to the 21st international conference on ‘Harmonisation within Atmospheric Dispersion Modelling for Regulatory Purposes‘ (HARMO21) held in Aveiro, Portugal, in September 2021.
Silvana Di Sabatino and Carlo Cintolesi – the UNIBO team of I-CHANGE – presented innovative results on the effect of rooftop trees on the removal of pollutants from urban canyons, and on the positive effect in urban heat island mitigation exerted by blue bodies embedded in the city fabric.
